Steamed Tilapia


  • 1 medium Tilapia
  • 1 small red onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 medium ripe tomato
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • salt
  • pepper

  • soy sauce
  • 1pc. calamansi

  1. Fish preparation - Make sure the fish is not frozen. Remove the scales of the fish. Make a slit on the side and remove the gills and innards. Chop off the tips of the fins and tail. Rinse well with water to remove the blood.
  2. Stuffing preparation - Dice the onion, garlic, and tomato. Grate the ginger. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Season the both sides of the fish with salt and pepper. Stuff the fish (head and body) with the mixture.
  4. Steam for 15-20 minutes in medium heat.
  5. Serve with cooked rice and calamansi-soy sauce dip.
